During my stay at Henan University, I discovered the library. This was the highlight of my trip. The 2nd floor was all about Chinese medicine, and that’s where I spent most of my free time. On the 2nd floor, there were many different sections: diet therapy, qigong, Chinese medicine theory, classical literature, obstetrics, gynecology, oncology, urology… I can go on. At the basement, there was an herbal museum.
I was there for 4 weeks. The requirement of the doctoral program is to complete 186 hrs. of externship. I was determined to complete the 186 hrs. during the 4 weeks. The commute from the dormitory to the hospital was an hour each way. So I didn’t have a lot of free time to be at the library. I also wanted to sit in the class. When I inquired about it, they said that the class was over for the term, and the students were just taking the tests. They encouraged me to come back in fall. The more I learn, the more I realize how much there is to learn. One life time is not long enough to learn this amazing medicine. I am definitely thinking about going back!
