Mariko is a licensed acupuncturist. She loves acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and how they work so well together. Having experienced menstrual issues herself, she knows how frustrating it is to have health issues that just do not go away.
Mariko was born and raised in Japan. She had an early exposure to acupuncture and Chinese herbs (Kampo). As a young girl, she thought about studying acupuncture in Japan. Instead, she chose to come to the US for college. Many years later, however, she studied acupuncture and Chinese medicine at Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland, OR. After getting her license, she continued her education at American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco, CA, where she received her Doctor's degree, specializing in pain management and women's health.
When she's not studying medicine or seeing patients, she loves to hike, garden, read, bike, and play piano.
